Westfield Rise Transform 136 Shopping Mall Kiosks Across 10 Locations with Cutting-Edge Fine-Pitch LED Technology
Westfield Rise, a leader in digital retail innovation, has partnered with digiLED to upgrade 136 digital LED kiosks across 10 leading US shopping malls. Replacing outdated LCD screen kiosks, these state-of-the-art, double-sided, fine-pitch LED kiosks deliver stunning visuals, exceptional durability, and energy efficiency, transforming the shopping experience in both indoor & outdoor settings.
The project aimed to create digital signage solutions that are future-proof, easy to maintain, and equipped for advanced analytics and interactivity. Spanning ten flagship malls, with Century City in California as a standout, these kiosks are built to engage shoppers year-round with vibrant, high-impact advertising, wayfinding and promotions.
Why Fine-Pitch LED Beats Old LCD Screens for Retail Digital Signage
Westfield Rise selected digiLED after a rigorous tender process, valuing their expertise in custom design and collaborative approach. Project lead Mike Hopkins, digiLED, who has a history of successful projects with Westfield, brought deep technical knowledge and a commitment to transparent delivery. digiLED’s early guidance on choosing fine-pitch LED over LCD, selecting the ideal pixel pitch, and tailoring specifications ensured the kiosks outperformed their predecessors in every way.
Introducing the digiBLADE: Double-Sided LED Kiosks Built for Indoor & Outdoor Retail Environments
At the heart of the rollout is the digiBLADE, LED kiosk designed for retail environments. With pixel pitches as low as 1.9mm, it delivers crystal-clear visuals, even at close viewing distances, making it ideal for high-traffic mall settings. Its high brightness (up to 4,000 nits) ensures vivid imagery in both sunlit outdoor areas and indoor applications.
Crystal-Clear 1.5mm Pixel Pitch & 5,000-Nit Brightness – Perfect for Close-Up Viewing in Busy Malls
Each kiosk features a custom-designed enclosure with no visible screws, a bespoke waterproofing system for outdoor durability, integrated audio and interactive cameras discreetly embedded for a sleek appearance. The kiosks also include digiLED’s patented digiLED ZEUS (Zero Energy Use System) which cuts standby power consumption to zero when the kiosks are not in use and safely manages power-up cycles. Engineered for busy public spaces, the kiosks meet stringent UL safety standards, ensuring reliability and compliance across the US market.
How digiLED’s Early Guidance Delivered Future-Proof Digital Kiosks for Westfield Rise
This project was more than a tech upgrade; it was a testament to the trust and teamwork between digiLED’s design team and Westfield Rise’s leadership and digital teams. Open dialogue from initial specifications, prototyping through to project delivery and mass roll out.
Mike, Project Lead at digiLED, said: “Working with Westfield Rise was a chance to showcase the digiBLADE’s capabilities in a demanding retail environment, as well as testing our design team to deliver a new, innovative solution, ready for a mass roll out. These kiosks don’t just look incredible; they’re built to perform and last.”
