Enhancing the visitor experience at Gran Reno Shopping Village with bespoke LED displays
Gran Reno Shopping Village is a modern retail destination in Casalecchio di Reno, near Bologna, which recently underwent a major modernisation and extension. As part of this transformation, the centre introduced a series of bespoke LED displays to enhance the visitor experience, using retail LED display solutions that integrate seamlessly with the centre’s architecture.

A retail LED display project spanning multiple environments
The project comprises four LED installations totalling 204sqm across the site, each located in a different environment.
From the outset, the client prioritised long-term reliability and high-quality visuals. The displays needed to perform across a mix of indoor and outdoor settings, including areas with unusually high ambient brightness and complex architectural features such as curved surfaces and a large domed glass ceiling.
In addition, all indoor displays were required to meet strict safety standards due to the region’s seismic regulations.
Designing retail LED displays to integrate with complex architecture
Each LED screen at Gran Reno was designed to respond to its specific location within the shopping village while contributing to a cohesive overall digital experience.
The installations were required to sit comfortably within a variety of architectural contexts, from interior spaces featuring expansive glass ceilings to prominent external façades, without compromising visual performance or design intent.

Delivering high-brightness indoor retail LED screens under natural light
One of the most technically demanding parts of the project was a smooth indoor concave LED display capable of delivering outdoor-level brightness. Due to intense natural light passing through the domed glass ceiling above, the curved retail screen needed to maintain image clarity and uniformity despite unusually high ambient brightness levels.

Alongside this installation, additional indoor screens were deployed throughout the shopping centre. Each was designed to perform reliably in bright, naturally lit environments while integrating seamlessly with the surrounding architecture, ensuring consistent image quality and visual impact across a range of interior spaces.
Front-access outdoor retail LED screens with minimal structural impact
The outdoor LED display was engineered to allow full front access, preserving the architectural integrity of the building while simplifying ongoing servicing and maintenance.
By minimising structural impact and prioritising accessibility, digiLED delivered an outdoor retail LED screen solution that balances visual impact with long-term practicality.
To deliver the best result across the site, a combination of LED technologies was specified. Indoor digital signage solutions utilised digiTHIN HD 3.9mm and digiFLEX LX 3.9mm, while digiTILE MAX 8mm was selected for the exterior installation, offering strong outdoor performance and a slim façade-friendly profile.
